The Pickled Parrot is located in the heart of Placencia Village at the tip of a 14 mile peninsula of sandy beaches and palm trees. Placencia is only 35 minutes by air from Belize City and 5 minutes from the Placencia Airstrip. The Placencia road is now paved all the way to the Southern Highway making travel by car much easier. When visiting the Pickled Parrot, you are only a few minutes walk to all amenities. Just 300 yards from the sea - this is the best swimming area in the village. Markets, banks, gift shops and restaurants are just a short walk down the world famous "sidewalk" . The Parrot now has a sidewalk from the road making it easier to get to and wheelchair accessible.
This small thatched restaurant is surrounded by palm trees, hibiscus, bougainvillea and many other tropical flowers with daily visits from iguanas, hummingbirds and a rainbow of butterflies. It's the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway with a choice of many activities to choose from or just the peace and quiet of swinging in your hammock.
The Pickled Parrot Bar and Grill has been serving great food for over 16 years and is popular with locals and visitors alike. The Ten 'Dalla' Lunch and Happy Hour are very popular and the staff are friendly and attentive. We have just put up our new thatched roof making it a real "cool spot". The beer garden is also open! WE NO LONGER HAVE OUR CABANAS...TRY WWW.PLACENCIA.COM FOR INFO ON RENTALS. The Old Master/Pickled Parrot Rum Punch competition was another fun event at LOBSTERFEST 2011. Becky Mariano of the Maya Beach Bistro came first, Denise Bryan of the Pickled Parrot, second and Marlene Eberly came third. Our Chili Cook-off on Saturday, July 23rd was a great success - we raised $200 for the Placencia Football Club, thanks to our sponsors - Belikin Beer, Old Master and Mosquito Coast Ice and everyone who supported this event. Kathy Anglin placed first, Jack Linker, second and Suzzanne Reigel third. Kathy also won the special "Grill n Go" Award!. Our judges, John Lee (owner & chef of the Maya Beach Hotel Bistro - winner of the BTB award - "Hotel of the Year" 2011), Dawn Pollard (owner of Grill n Go) and Russell Czarnecki (writer and traveller) had their work cut out for them...all the entries were very tasty and everyone got to taste them after the judging. Who knows what the next event will be - any ideas! We celebrated September Celebrations starting September 10th until September 21st ( Belize's 30th Birthday!). A lot of turkeys were served for the Canadian and US Thanksgivings and Christmas. We are now into the Year of the Maya. Our next big event in Placencia is the Sidewalk Art & Music Festival on Feb 11th and 12th. Drop by the Parrot for a thirstquencher or a bite to eat after strolling the sidewalk. Hope to see you soon! The Pickled Parrot restaurant will begin serving breakfast Monday through Saturday starting Jan 30th at 8am. We are also having a Superbowl Party on Sunday, February 5th. On Saturday February 18th, we have live music starting at 4pm with Keith & Kathy (great Frank Sinatra music!).
